暦には新暦と旧暦がある。

There are a new calendar and an old calendar in the calendar.

私の子供の頃までは旧暦が使われていた。

The lunar calendar was used until my childhood.

旧暦と新暦にか一か月ほどのずれがある。

There is a gap of about a month between the old calendar and the new calendar.

例えば旧暦の新年は2月4日だ。

For example, the lunar New Year is February 4th.

私の誕生日は12月20日であるが、その年の12月２０日の旧暦は11月22日である。

My birthday is December 20th, but the lunar calendar for December 20th of that year is November 22nd.

これはニギハヤヒの命日である。

This is the anniversary of Nigihayahi's death.

その次の日は冬至である。

The next day is the winter solstice.

古代、私の先祖が神主をつとめていた奈良県の石上神宮は、ニギハヤヒの「十種神宝（とくさのかんだから）」が祀られているところだ。

Nigihayahi's "Tokusa-God's Treasure" is enshrined at Isonokami Shrine in Nara Prefecture, where my ancestors used to serve as priests.

冬至の前夜、すなわちニギハヤヒの命日に行われる神事に深い意味がある。

The eve of the winter solstice, that is, the anniversary of Nigihayahi's death, has a deep meaning.

つまり太陽神の死と再生のマツリである。

In other words, it is the death and rebirth of the sun god.

翌日の新嘗祭は冬至のマツリであるが、太陽神の死と再生を記念する行事である。

The next day, Niiname-no-Matsuri, which is the winter solstice, is an event to commemorate the death and rebirth of the sun god.

まさしくニギハヤヒはマイトレーヤだったのだ。

Nigihayahi was exactly Maitreya.

これがヒノモトの原点である。

This is the origin of Hinomoto.
